Quellòn

OK, we've reached Quellòn at the southern tip of the Island of Chilloè and we're visiting Paula's younger brother Tite who has a small home here with a fantastic view of the bay (picture at left). He also has two dogs, a cat and her two kittens. Quellòn is a smaller town than Ancud where we were yesterday and Tite's two dogs go wherever he goes around town (which is a bit scary for Paula and me as the dogs wander through traffic along with a host of other stray dogs...).

The bus ride south (from Ancud at one end of the island to Quellón at the other) took 3 hours and passed through some beautiful rolling countryside being pelted with rain. Many of the houses are painted bright colors (red, blue and yellow are popular) and many of the small old wooden buildings are in rustic delapidated shape (looking almost like pioneer cabins from last century - which some of them probably are).
