Churches of Chiloé
The churches here on the island of Chiloé are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They are a blend of European and native culture and have some striking wooden architecture. Paula and I took a bus up to Castro today to see one of the more famous of the churches (and have another fantastic seafood lunch). The exterior of the church isn't much to look at, but the interior is very impressive. It is totally made of wood and here's a sample...
Then we took a 30 minute bus to a small town called Chonchi where the church wasn't much inside (they were doing some earthquake repair and half the inside was held up by tree trunks), but very nice on the outside...
